THE INTRUDER. Davide Sgambaro
- Event
- 29 October 2025 - 1 March 2026

Curated by Virginia Lupo
29 October 2025 – 1° March 2026
The “Intruder” is an artist or curator invited to each Resonance to engage in dialogue with the exhibitions and the collections of GAM. Their “intrusion” plays a decisive role in every reinstallation of the collections, reactivating interpretative trajectories or reassuring chronological narratives.
The artist invited to take on the role of Intruder for this THIRD RESONANCE is Davide Sgambaro. His practice unfolds in a tension between enchantment and unease: at first glance, his works display a playful and colorful aesthetic, with materials and forms that evoke lively, playful imaginaries and poetic gestures. However, on closer, more reflective examination, the objects, habits, and gestures of a disenchanted youth portrayed in his works—imbued with a tragicomic atmosphere—become keys to gently and wonderously investigating generational trauma.
Within GAM’s indoor spaces, Sgambaro will present two works: the first in a passage area on the first floor, and the second occupying the Sala del Riposo on the second floor. Additionally, during the opening evening on October 28, with a repeat performance on November 28, Davide Sgambaro will stage a performance in the museum’s outdoor spaces, engaging with its distinctive architecture.
